A Spelling Bee for Literacy

Things at Ashurst law firm got a little bit competitive on the evening of September 8! Teams demonstrated their impressive language knowledge during a spelling bee for literacy, with proceeds from the night going to the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation’s Wall of Hands campaign.

By round three, the game was undeniably heating up. Words such as “sesquipedalian”, “chrysanthemum” and “menhir” made an appearance, alongside long-time auto-correct favourites “accommodation” and “exaggerate”.

Extra points were also awarded for creative table names, funny word definitions and creative poem writing, making for an entertaining and enjoyable evening.

We are very grateful to Ashurst for choosing to partner with the ALNF for this event and raising over $3,700 to help fund life-changing literacy programs in our nation’s most disadvantaged communities. A truly impressive result.

Thank you to everyone who participated with such enthusiasm and congratulations to the winning team on their well deserved victory!
