Thank you for a fantastic year!

We couldn’t have done it without you.

As the year wraps up, we reflect on what has been a truly incredible year for the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. With your continued support, we have been able to reach more children and communities than ever before, empowering people and changing lives through literacy.

From the whole team at ALNF, we thank you for your generosity, commitment and enthusiasm. You have been integral to our success!

Program Growth

2016 has been a year of significant growth and we are now working with 302 sites across the nation. Our Early Language & Literacy Program alone has rapidly expanded in NSW, and new projects have been implemented in the NT. Even more sites are scheduled to come on board in early 2017 as demand for our programs continues to increase.

Outstanding Results

Our specialised literacy programs overcome the many health, developmental and social hurdles faced by children in vulnerable communities. In the very remote APY Lands of SA, 100% of participating children improved their pre-literacy skills- the vital precursor to literacy success. Similarly, in Nambucca, NSW, 84% of children improved their pre-literacy skills. This is just a small sample of our results.

Record-Breaking Support

Our annual Wall of Hands online campaign raises awareness of the Indigenous literacy gap and allows us to continue our work in marginalised Indigenous communities around Australia. We raised an impressive $703,041, a new record for the campaign! We can’t thank our supporters enough for raising their hands with us to ensure that every child can write their own bright future.

International Recognition

We were incredibly honoured to be finalists in the 2016 Google Impact Challenge for our Living First Language Project. We were recipients of a $250,000 grant to finalise our truly innovative digital solution allowing First Languages to become vibrant living literacy resources, empowering language speakers to be their own teachers.
