We are very excited to let you know that Wall of Hands has officially launched for 2017. This year, our goal is to raise $700,000 to continue and expand our life-changing, specialised and innovative literacy programs in Indigenous communities across Australia.

Today is the day that you can help close the Indigenous literacy gap.

We are more determined than ever to give every child in this country the literacy support they need, and we will not stop till 5/5 kids can write their own bright futures.

Here are 5 reasons why you should join the Wall of Hands:

Indigenous kids are being left behind.

Appallingly, only 1/5 Indigenous children in very remote communities in the Northern Territory reach the minimum standard for reading and writing (NAPLAN 2016). When will we decide that this is just not good enough?

2Literacy changes everything.

Literacy gives us a voice and allows us to participate meaningfully and confidently in our society. Literacy is at the heart of safe and strong communities, health and wellbeing and economic success. It is a basic human right.

3Education and language are vital to the reconciliation journey.

Literacy and First Language revitalisation are powerful tools in driving reconciliation forward and in closing the gap in outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

4Real change is happening every single day.

We are working closely with communities across the nation, delivering groundbreaking literacy programs that work. For example, 100% of participating children in the very remote communities of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in South Australia improved their foundational literacy skills- the key to becoming strong and confident readers.

We are helping to transform communities, and we have the results to prove it.

5The time to act is now.

Your support makes a huge impact on how many communities and children we can reach. 100% of your donation to Wall of Hands will go directly towards the delivery of our programs.

We thank you for being a part of this community for change.
