The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Hollonds AO as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

Anne brings extensive leadership experience and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. She joins ALNF following her role as Australia’s National Children’s Commissioner, where she has been a prominent advocate for the rights, wellbeing and opportunities of children and young people.

ALNF Chair Glenn Johnston OAM said Anne’s appointment followed a comprehensive recruitment process and marked an exciting new chapter for the organisation.

“The Board was looking for a leader who could build on ALNF’s strong foundations while bringing the experience, energy and perspective needed to lead us confidently into our next chapter,” Mr Johnston said.

“Anne stood out not only because of her considerable leadership experience, but because of her strong alignment with ALNF’s purpose and values. She understands the importance of giving children and communities the opportunity to thrive and brings a strong commitment to listening, collaboration and impact.”

“We are delighted to welcome Anne to ALNF and look forward to working alongside her as we continue to strengthen the reach and impact of our work.”

Anne will initially focus on listening, learning and connecting with ALNF’s people, programs, partners and stakeholders, while deepening her understanding of the communities the organisation works alongside.

Mr Johnston said ALNF’s relationships with its supporters would remain central to its future.

“Our funders, partners, supporters and ambassadors are an important part of the ALNF community. Their commitment enables us to continue our work with children, families and communities, and we look forward to Anne building on these valued relationships.”

The appointment comes at an important time for ALNF as it builds on its strong foundations and considers the next phase of the organisation’s development and impact.
