Every child should have the opportunity to learn to read and write, but the 2014 NAPLAN results show that in very remote areas, only 2/5 kids can read at the minimum standard. In some parts of the Northern Territory, this figure is as low as 1/5.
However, things are changing. With the funds we raise through Wall of Hands, we’re working with communities to help Indigenous children write their own bright futures. We won’t stop until 5/5 kids can read.
We set an ambitious target to raise half a million dollars through Wall of Hands 2015. Amazingly, in just four short months we’ve raised $451,100 to improve Indigenous literacy in Australia. That’s over 90% of our target. Will you help us reach our goal?
