My name is Pam and I work with the ALNF as an Early Language and Literacy Trainer, helping families and teachers in our Wall of Hands communities to improve their children’s literacy.
Donate to Wall of Hands 2015 to inspire a generation of Indigenous children through literacy.
In my work, I see communities unite around the common goal of improving children’s literacy. I see children and their families grow in confidence and engage deeply in learning. Social disadvantage is common to all Wall of Hands communities – from suburban to very remote areas – but so is a real desire for a better education, a better future for their children. You can help make this a reality by donating to Wall of Hands 2015.
If you could witness the determination that communities have to make life better for their children; if you could see the pride that families feel when they have learnt the skills to help their own children; if you could watch the children’s faces when they learn something new, you’d see straight away the difference that your donation to Wall of Hands 2015 makes!
I was moved to hear that one of our preschool mothers witnessed her young son proudly write his name in the frost of a supermarket fridge whilst they were shopping for groceries. She said that she was filled with hope, and felt inspired to learn how to read too, so that she could help him. I am thrilled to think that we are seen as a part of the solution, and that we are there to support these communities.
Being literate empowers you to participate at every level of society, in the things that matter to you. The ALNF dedicates the funds to ensure the programs enable participating communities to become independent. You can help by funding this life-changing work.
