What a way to round out the year! ALNF is so excited to share with supporters that our Living First Languages Platform (LFLP) has been named as one of five winners at the United Nations World Summit Awards in the category of Culture & Tourism!
Along with the other winners, LFLP was chosen for meeting the criteria of being a “driven digital solution, able to facilitate transformation to a knowledge society and to assist in achieving the UN’s Social Development Goals.” Winners were also chosen for “empowering people and communities, making education more personal, relevant, fun and inclusive, digging deep into our cultures, strengthening civic engagement and contributing to an open and transparent society.”
We are so honoured to be chosen as one of 5 winners by such a prestigious international organisation as the United Nations. The First Languages team is eagerly looking forward to travelling to Vienna to attend the World Summit Awards Global Congress in March next year, ready to show the world the importance and value of preserving Indigenous First Languages, both here in Australia, as well as abroad.
Capping off the year with another international recognition would not have been possible without the ongoing support from our friends, families, communities, and allies here in Australia. Thank you so much for standing with us every day to work towards literacy for all.
